There are strong indications that Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has stepped down from office following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.
Multiple sources have identified Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, as the frontrunner to succeed him.
Although no official confirmation had been released as of the time of filing this report, senior police sources who spoke with Sahara Reporters suggested that Disu may soon be announced as the new Inspector-General of Police.

– Olatunji Disu, born April 13, 1966, previously served as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
– Prior to his posting to Abuja, he held the position of Commissioner of Police in Rivers State. During Egbetokun’s tenure as IGP, he was later redeployed to the FCT.
– Disu once headed the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force, a specialised unit responsible for major criminal investigations and high-profile operations.
– He currently serves as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos.
– He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
– Disu earned a degree in English Education from Lagos State University.
– He also possesses two master’s degrees: one in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, and another in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.
