A former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo has confirmed rumors making round in Imo State that he deployed his men to operate in Imo State.
Working under the auspices of Royal Switch Services Ltd, Asari Dokubo claims it is a private army providing security in different parts of Nigeria.
The former Ijaw militant leader disclosed this in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye through his platform ‘The Mic On Show’ recently stressing that private military company’s are in operation in different parts of the world providing security to governments or organizations that engages it’s services.
Ebubeagu security outfit was introduced by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma to stem down the high rate of insecurity been witnessed in the state in the recent years linked to the activities of miscreants and criminals referred to as ‘Unknown Gunmen’ which has led to the killing of many and destruction of properties in different parts of the state.
Speaking during the interview, Asari Dokubo stated ” I don’t have an Army but i have a private army company that was engaged by the government of Nigeria state and I have been doing the work for the Nigeria state privately and we are fighting side by side with the Nigerian military in many places
In his words, “Private military company’s exist all over the world, we have ‘Black water’ , ‘Wagna’ and so many other private military company’s, they are not new in Nigeria, the only thing new is that a Nigerian is now providing this services”
According to him, my” company is engaged in Niger, Plateau, Imo, Abia, parts of Rivers state, we were at Anambara State before they pulled us out”
He maintained that his company and men are doing a good job and we’re been commended by the respective host communities and the government.
This confirms the earlier statements and insinuations that Asari Dokubo boys are deployed in Imo State.
There has been series of outcries on the activities of the security outfit called Ebubeagu for allegedly engaging in extra-judicial killings and destruction of properties in the state.
It can be recalled that a popular radio presenter in Imo State, Theodore Chinomso Uba popularly known as Nonso Nkwa of Oziza Fm was arrested and detained in Abuja for accusing Governor Hope Uzodinma of using Asari Dokubo men to cause mayhem in the state.
By Asari Dokubo's statement, it appears Nonsonkwa was wrong in mentioning Uzodimma as clearly, Dokubo was hired by the Nigerian government not the Imo State government.
