The Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, have offered to relinquish the governorship seat of Imo State to those desperate to unseat him, if only they will stop funding insecurity in the state.
Uzodimma made the call when he worshipped at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church Nwaoriubi in Mbaitoli LGA, as well as the All Saints Cathedral Church (Anglican Communion), Egbu in Owerri North LGA.
Speaking, the governor stated, "Politics is not war, that you don't agree with my political ideology does not make you my enemy.
"If I'm not able to convince you, it does not make you not to be entitled to what every other citizen of this state is entitled to.
"What I control is our common patrimony, it belongs to me and you. I'm only here today to manage it. Tomorrow or next it may be another person, so if you say you're not interested, you cannot abandon your estate, it's our heritage, you can't be a stranger in your own house"
Governor Hope Uzodimma recalled that Owerri used to be the hospitality capital of the South East, pointing out that those who visited the state capital no matter their problems, were always happy.
Uzodimma stated that he wanted to see that usual traffic Owerri was known for.
"We want to see the usual traffic, we want to see the usual bustling, we want to see people happy, we want to see people go about their business," Uzodimma stated. "Some politicians who are financing violence in Imo State, tell them to stop. If they want this my seat, I'll give to them provided they stop because it doesn't make sense shedding blood and taking lives.
"Nobody with good conscience, who has fear of God, will because he wants to take power shed blood and take lives. We're in the church all of us, but as we leave here, let us also take home what we got from this place. It's not coming to church, and leaving the church, and going to transfer money to somebody who you know will go and kidnap people. So let us do what we preach and act what we claim to be.
"But for power, only God and God alone gives power."
