As the world marks April 1st, popularly known as April Fool’s Day, Captain David Mbamara, KSC, has called on the people of Owerri Zone and Imo State at large to see the new month as a period of renewal, unity, and determination rather than a time associated with foolishness or triviality.
In his April New Month message, Capt. Mbamara emphasized that the new month should symbolize a shift in mindset for the people of the state. According to him, April must not be regarded as a season of jokes or deception but rather a moment for reflection, courage, and collective progress.
He noted that the people of Owerri Zone have always been known for their resilience, enterprise, and strong community spirit, qualities he said should guide them as they move forward in the face of challenges.
“April is often called April Fool’s Day, but for Ndi Owerri Zone and Ndi Imo at large, this will not be a month for fools. It must be a month for awakening, unity, and renewed hope,” he stated.
Capt. Mbamara acknowledged that the state, like many others, has experienced periods of uncertainty and hardship. However, he stressed that history has consistently shown that communities that remain united and determined can overcome any obstacle.
Using the changing seasons as an analogy, he explained that just as the rains eventually follow the dry season to restore the land, difficult times in society are often followed by opportunities for growth and transformation.
He therefore encouraged the people of Imo State to reject despair and instead focus on building a better future together. He particularly urged young people to remain productive and focused, while calling on elders and leaders to continue providing wisdom and responsible leadership.
The message also highlighted the importance of unity among communities in Owerri Zone and across Imo State, stressing that progress can only be achieved when people work together with a shared sense of purpose.
According to him, the month of April should serve as a reminder that great societies are built by citizens who believe in their collective destiny and are willing to work toward it.
Capt. Mbamara concluded by wishing the people of Owerri Zone and the entire Imo State peace, prosperity, and renewed determination as they begin the new month.
“Let us step into April with courage, faith in God, and love for one another. Together, Ndi Owerri Zone will rise, and Imo State will move forward,” he said.
