The Emerging Leaders of Nigeria have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider appointing more ministers from the youthdom.

Speaking after an emergency meeting of prominent Nigerian Youth leaders in Lokoja, the Emerging Leaders Forum led by Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel told journalist about their collective resolve to nominate a Kaduna State born progressive youth technocrat, Builder Shamshudeen Yusuf as Minister of Youth Development for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's consideration.

Godstime noted that in their quest to support the President Tinubu's led administration, the Emerging Leaders Forum comprising of all Eminent Youth and Student heads in Nigeria has vowed not to led President Tinubu make any mistake as regards the appointment of a Youth Minister.

When Mr. President presented a 63years old Abubakar Momoh to us as Youth Minister nominee, we objected to that nomination and as a listening father, the President harkened to us and made quick changes as he reassigned Momoh to Niger Delta Ministry. Today we are appealing to Mr. President to consider the plight of Emerging Leaders of this great nation by giving the youthdom more appointments as we are ready to serve and deliver, Godstime opined.

The group advised the President to always beckon on Nigerian youth leaders on any issue that has to do with Nigerian Youths.

"We urge our dear president Tinubu to always consult Nigerian Youths on issues that has to do with the youths as any decision taken for the youths, in the interest of the youths, without the youths is not for the youths. Our dear friend, brother and collegue; Seyi Tinubu and Senior Comrade Femi Gbajabiamila are there with Mr. President to advise better," Godstime noted.

"Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria; ELFON Worldwide has young seasoned professional administrators with decades of experience in various sectors that should be considered for the vacant ministerial slot.

"Nigerian Youthdom is blessed with a lot of talented and intelligent youths leaders and mentors who are barely given the chance or opportunity to exercise these gifts.

"We believe that a youth advocate, mentor, a successful technocrat like Shamshudeen Yusuf that possesses the qualities necessary to effectively represent the interests of Nigerian youth should be considered for the vacant ministerial slot.

"ELFON maintained on the importance of selecting a young, capable and vibrant individual such as Shamshudeen Yusuf to replace Hon. Abubakar Momoh, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Niger Delta.

"A candidate who’s dedication to bridging the gap for youthful representation and his proficiency in youth-centric matters.

"The demand of these Eminent Nigerian Youth leaders such as the President of Ohaneze Youth Association worldwide, Speaker of Nigerian Students Parliament,  President of Niger-Delta Youth Forum, National Speaker of Oduduwa Youth Parliament, Chairman of Northern Youths Assembly, Leader of National Union of Ethnic youth Nationalities amongst others under the aegis of Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria is justified because of our antecedents and contributions in promoting national unity, oneness and
progressive Nigeria”, Godstime Samuel addressed.

However, the youth noted that youth representation is currently less than 10%, urging for more significant involvement of young individuals in decision-making roles.

“Thank God President Tinubu has a very good record of grooming and including youths in governance. Therefore, we expect him to continue in that line, especially in his subsequent appointment of ministers, heads of departments and agencies, board members of federal institutions, etc.” ELFON boss added.
