By Greg Nwadike, SA to Imo Governor on Media Engagement
Night life in Owerri the state capital has returned and remains on the increase.
Residents of Owerri can attest to this which enemies of the state had wanted it to remain the other way round.
Admittedly, Owerri was home and epicentre of night life, fun and relaxation before the unfortunate Owerri prison break of April 5, 2021 which shook the entire security architecture in the state.
No doubt, the effect of that Prison Break seriously challenged the state Government and people in a manner that required some proactive measures which were eventually injected by the State Government.
Imolites are today grateful that they can again go about their night and usual businesses in and around the city capital without molestations by criminals anywhere. There are currently no "Black Spots" as being promoted by our enemies.
It is on record that the lone robbery/kidnap incidence which took place around Ikenegbu few months ago was foiled and the criminals apprehended by our gallant security operatives in the city that gave them hot chase, and arrested them to the cheering of our people.
The recent article being circulated on the Social Media by opposition elements and enemies of the state about "Black Spots" in the city centre is full of mischiefs as the promoters ended up listing the entire roads, streets and areas in Owerri. The idea is to continuously keep our people in fears, with the sole intent to paint the government of Sen. Hope Uzodinma with a tar brush.
It is the handiwork of agents of the already dismantled and now confused opposition PDP which has been linked to the insecurity in the state, and whose only campaign slogan is to "make Imo Safe Again".
However, our vigilant security agencies which already know their involvements in the enablement of insecurity in Imo, have also been on the red alert, assuring our people of extra measures to guarantee their safety and lives in case of a possible stage-managed criminal operations on those areas that they have now marked as "Black Spots".
Our people and visitors are therefore, enjoined to freely go about their businesses any time of the day and night in all parts of Owerri.
Our people are to also note that security is everyone's business, hence must continue to be patient and cooperate with security officers on legitimate duties in and around the city capital.
